Architecture: Anthrosite

Balancing heritage character with modern function, this alteration and addition involved reconfiguring the rear of the home and introducing a private studio. The challenge was to honour original details while seamlessly integrating contemporary design. Every element—from the restored v-groove ceilings to the skylight perfectly positioned over the walkway—was carefully considered to honour the home’s past while enhancing its liveability.

Seamless transitions and precise alignment were key to maintaining cohesion between old and new. Custom timber joinery, flush window details, and a cavity batten system for ventilation elevated both function and finish. Thoughtfully engineered shade structures, airtight sarking, and high-performance materials reinforced the home’s longevity. The result is a refined, light-filled space where the family can connect, with a studio retreat that offers privacy without feeling detached.
